Fear Has Created More Failures Than Attempt Ever Has

By Rachael Giffen · September 29, 2025

There’s a saying I’ve held close to my heart lately:

“Fear has killed more dreams than failure ever will.”

When I think about the biggest turning points in my life, financial, personal, even emotional, it’s never been the times I tried and failed that set me back the most.

It’s been the moments I hesitated.

The opportunities I talked myself out of.

The options I over analyzed until they vanished.

The “what ifs” that I let become “never dids.”

Fear is sneaky like that.

It disguises itself as logic. It tells you to “wait until it’s the right time.”

It whispers, “You’re not ready yet.”

And before you know it, months or even years pass by while you stay exactly where you are safe, but stagnant. Truth be told "ready" isn't a feeling, it's a decision. We're never ready for what life has in store for us.

The truth is, failure is a teacher. It gives feedback. It builds resilience.

But fear?

Fear builds regret.

Regret is far heavier to carry than any lesson failure could ever bring.

I’ve learned that every attempt, no matter how small, shifts your life forward.

When you try, you open doors. You gain clarity. You grow confidence.

When you stay frozen in fear, you stay stuck in the same cycle, waiting for courage to arrive when it’s actually built through action.

Think about it:

You’ll never know what could have been if you don’t give yourself a chance to find out.

Here’s the truth I’ve come to live by:

Action cures fear.

Being idle never solved my problems.

The more you do, the less you doubt.

And even when things don’t go perfectly, you’ll always be further along than if you’d done nothing at all.

So today, let this be your reminder:

Don’t let fear write your story.

Let courage take the pen.

Because the attempt, no matter the outcome—?will always move you closer to the life you’re meant to live.

And when you look back, you’ll realize the only real failure… was never trying.
